Plus, Phil Hay's YEP article says he gave a very good interview (including 
trashing Monk's tactics in some games), so I don't think we are in Watermelon 
territory here.

Very fair points David. We need someone who can bring something new and a spark 
to the club - I was dreading the likes of Karanka/Pardew etc - why would 
bringing in people who have managed at the level but essentially been 
unsuccessful be seen as a good thing - it just prolongs mediocrity. 
Christainsen's footballing background is pretty good, and who knows, having an 
ex forward as a manager might encourage having more than one up front? Famous 
last words and all that!

This guy's coaching success may well have only been in Cyprus, but he has 
played at the highest level so he's under no illusion as to what is expected of 
him. Personally I'm happy we're not recycling another mercenary English manager 
for the nth time.
