Yeah, that sums up the situation. I was not making any comment other than after
only originally losing Taylor , who played in only half the games and was not
missed much, we had only lost Bartley from the first team - the other exits
were Grimes, Barrow, Pedraza none of whom would be missed, so it looked as if
we were going to be able to build on what Monk had started, albeit in his
absence. Now we are looking at replacing 6 regulars in total (Doukara played in
over half ?) and the spine of the team
Provided we find a good replacement for Wood I am Ok with the way things have
gone so far - CBJ and Pennington look decent replacements for Tayor and Bartley
and Alioski and especailly Saiz look a class above anyone we have had for ages.
Saiz looked great again last night in his cameo appearance. IF he can be
consistent and stay fit then he may well be brilliant. He sparked the chant
"He's just too good for you " again last night and I can imagine it being sung
most weeks - his first game have been that good. Anita Kiltch Ekuban have all
showed bits to suggest that will improve the squad

I would say that Bartley did not want to come back as soon as it was clear that
Monk wasn't, even before his new contract with Swansea (remember his very
pro-monk interview on Yorkshire Radio after the last game of the season?
Basically an ultimatum); Taylor clearly was going at the start of last season;
Wood did not want to stay either that became clear. Even Bridcutt seemed to
want out when it was clear he was not top of the pecking order which TBH I am
ok with as he was nowhere near as good last year as in his first year.
So I am not sure how much of this is even Leeds' doing. Obviously peripheral
players such as Doukara, Diougoraga and Antonsson were considered expendable
and probably rightly so...though Antonsson I feel sorry for.
I still consider Green an odd one but understand the rest.
Just commenting Dave not saying you think we should get rid or keep.

additionHe is basically a replacement alongside Ekuban for Doukara & Antonsson
- we still need to replace Wood with someone who we know can get goals at this
level, not "one for the future" or "worth taking a gamble".
As for Doukara I still believe there is a footballer in there but his attitude
will ensure he does not make it at the level he should. He has upset the club
with his antics this week, he had his biting incident , and of course was one
of the sicknote six. He went missing in more games than he showed up in but did
do well at times and his goal last season will stay in the memory, but no great
loss and clearly TC did not rate him.
So now from last seasons team we have got rid of Green from the first team and
Taylor, Bartley, Bridcutt, Doukara and Wood from the team altogether - odd
given that Green, Bartley, Bridcutt and Wood were basically the 'spine' of that
team , keeper, centre defence, centre midfield and centre forward
