I think that’s a bit harsh on Wood (particularly the Becchio comparison) but there is some truth there. He DID dictate the style of play. But you say that like it’s a bad thing. So what if he dictated the style of play so long as balls went in the right net and the numbers in the table were increasing in the correct column? I too prefer a team “of footballers with footballing skills” but you build a team around what you have, not what you wish you had. And Wood was a very effective player to build around last year.
