Agree with Dave, yesterday was magnificent. Life changes and times change and yesterday I was sat in the rain and sun in the family stand with my 80 year old dad and my daughter (her first game !) and I don't think I've enjoyed myself as much as at Elland Road for a very long time. If I think back to that amazing 1989 promotion season I don't think that will ever be repeated - I went to every home and away game that season culminating in an historic weekend in Bournemouth. There was some great performances and games that season but none as good as what I saw yesterday and that's some statement. My old man likes to come to games but in recent years he's seen us thumped at home to Huddersfield amongst other terrible performances. Yesterday he reckoned that's the best he's seen Leeds play for 10 years.Every player looked comfortable on the ball and some of the pass and move football had everyone around me just stood on their feet applauding. Burton were chasing shadows and just couldn't live with us and we could have been 5 up in the first 20 minutes. A scoreline of 8 or 9 nil at halftime would have reflected the game more than 3-0. A guy behind me said it was mainly down to Burton who offered nothing. Yes ok, Murphy couldn't play for them and apparently Warnock was playing with a knock but they nearly beat Sheff Wed last week and how many times have we seen journeymen teams like this come to Elland Road and make it very difficult for us. We made them look rubbish and I don't think they had a shot on target in 93 minutes. The remarkable thing for me is that TC plays with a team who are capable of doing unexpected attacking football. To have a team with Siaz, Hernandes and Roofe would not have been contemplated by Garry Monk. They're all slightly unpredictable (in the case of Hernandes very unpredictable) and are all considered to be the same sort of player. To have them all in the team and all playing at the top of their game and working together is almost genius from the manager. then you throw in Luke Ayling as an attacking right back who gives Mel Sterland (the Flying Pig) a run for his money, and Lassoga who is a big unit who can move fast and get into good position. His performance first half was better than Wood offered in any of his 30 goal season games last season, and Lasogga ain't match fit. This guy looks the business. At the back, Vurn played well at left back and even he was turning into a left winger at times. The back two were untroubled and Pontus even treated us in the family stand to some tricks which really took the piss out of the Burton player. What a star that bloke is. The goals were all good but I loved Lasogga first - powerfully bursting on to the ball and smashing it in with his left foot. Hernandes took his penalty well and Philips got his 3rd this season with a nice curling left foot effort. 2nd effort we continued to dominate but the 3 subs (Lasogga, Anita and O'Kane) did disrupt our game and although we were never troubled we didn't have the same slick style although Siaz treated us to some skills late on. More of this please, I can't imagine anyone in that crowd not returning on Tuesday night unless like me you'll be working in Glasgow so I'm in the process of testing out this VPN carry on so I can get the live stream. Just can't miss seeing it. Scores: Wiedwald - ? How do you rate a player who did nothing ? I still couldn't tell you whether this keeper is any good ? Is literally had nothing to do since the Bolton game . Anita - 9. Solid, good link up play. Good player. Ayling - 10. Playing most of the first half like a right winger bursting forward. Great stuff. Cooper - 9. Didn't have much to do but what he did was confident. Jansson - 10. Taking the piss, defending with style, bringing the ball forward - complete defender. O'Kane - 9. This was the best I've seen from him. He's limited but in this team his steadiness is required. Busy player with some good turns to start off moves. Philips - 10. Ditto O'kane however he bagged another goal. Also towards the end as we took the foot off the gas, Philips was still chasing and harrying. I would have had Vierra and Bridcutt in all day over Philips but credit to TC and to Philips at the moment they are proving me and others wrong. Roofe - 10. When I heard the team news walking to the ground that Allioski had been dropped and Roofe will play on the wing I thought it would be TC's first balls up team selection. Again TC got it right, Roofe is on fire and he looks like a different player now he's got the goals under his belt. He looked stronger, quicker, fitter, taller and he really took his goal well. He was up against Warnock who looked f*cked but if he continues like this he is another player that could prove me wrong. Lasogga - 10 . Perfect debut and there won't be many teams in this division with a player like this. The only criticism you could level is that he didn't get 4 or 5 cos he had the chances. Hernandes - 8. He played well but occasionally he just does things that defy logic like giving the back straight to the opposition. Frustrating player but we are no longer relying solely on him to make things happen. Subs: Dallas - came on to play left back - had a few moments Grot - replaced Lasogga and I felt sorry for him because he had to work for scraps as we reduced the pace. I like the look of him though, but it looks like he'll be on the bench most of the season. Klitch - pedestrian but he can play - maybe just needs match practice TC - 10. What a star ! We are going up as f*cking champions.
