Like many I watched the game on a TV feed (thanks Rich W) and enjoyed itIt was
a game that could have gone either way and so I suppose 2 2 is a fair
reflection - a bit annoying since we had 'won' the game twice and then let them
back in itI like Berardi and he is a real 8 out of 10 every game - a true
professional - but he was stupid last night. When the ref has stopped them
taking a corner due to pushing and pulling in the box you do not grab a player
when the corner does eventually take place
Then with seconds to go we give away a silly and needless free kick in a
dangerous position, albeit that the lad took a great free kick
Dyche once again proved that football people - players, managers, and 'experts'
do not know the laws of the game ! Yes, it was a soft and stupid penalty to
give away, there was no need to grab Roofe 'even for a millisecond when the
ball was seven foot above his head with no chance of scoring' as Dyche put it.
However he should be blaming his own player not the referee. A foul in the box
(and pulling a shirt is a foul) it is a penalty - irrespective of the chances
of the fouled player scoring. How often do we see a handball for no reason (eg
Shaunessey v Bolton) where there is no danger, orĀ  a player going away from
goal is tripped or pushed - it is a PENALTY - no ifs, buts or arguement. Why
don't the reporters / interviewers pull the manager (in this case) up for his
failure to understand the rules ?
As for the game as others have said we took all five of our penalties
brilliantly - top notch stuff. Not too sure about the new order (ABBA...)
Players wise I was very pleased to see Sacko do so well - he made a massive
difference. I understand the criticism and the 'sack o shit' remarks, but to me
he has blistering pace and some skill / tricks. Yes his final ball can be
lacking and too often there is no end product but I still love watching him. He
reminds me of Darren Huckerby , in that he does not know himself what he is
going to do so the opposition have no idea, and he makes things happen. I hope
he did enough for TC to have him on the bench as an impact player (he is the
11th ? player to score for us so far - in 11 games
Klitch shows that he will be a useful addition. Shaunessey was excellent again
and is a real find. Despite a totally re-arranged and cobbled together back 5 -
none of them will be in the first team in the postion they played last night-
we only conceeded from a penalty and a free kick , nothing from open play (even
if we did ride our luck a bit)
I can see why scum let CBJ go on loan and why he struggled at Wolves. Cibicki
and Grot were both very mixed. They did enough little bits to suggest they
could be decent but were missing too often or messed it up too much to suggest
they are ready for the first team
Whatever it is another game to bring back the fans (Ipswich already sold out ?)
- Just gutted that the next round will most likely be whilst I am on my holidays
I know Rich has had a pop at TC using his subs but I like it - we can bring on
3 (or 4 in the end last night) so why not use them if it improves what is on
the pitch ? OK we got caught out with being down to ten on Saturday but that is
unusual and I like a manager who can react to what is happening on the pitch. I
remember being infuriated by DoL on a number of occasions (2 nil down at
sunderland being still fresh in my mind) when despite millions of pounds of
talent on the bench and the game getting away from us, he just stood there and
made no changes
Dave
