TC may take the 3-2 result as a vindication of his team selection, but I
continue to believe that we look a little lightweight going forward when
Hernandez, Saiz and Alioski are all on the field together. Of greater concern
to me, however, was TC's post-match comment that Jansson was fit, but that he
had decided not to select him. I don't understand that. Shaughnessy is a good
player, and clearly made a beautiful pass for Lasogga's goal, but the defense
as a whole looks much more solid when Jansson is playing. For example,
McGoldrick's free header for Ipswich's first goal came from exactly the sort of
position from which Jansson usually heads clear. I hope Pontus is back for
Tuesday night. Simply put, we have not conceded a goal this season when Cooper
and Jansson are the center-half pairing.

I also remain unconvinced by Wiedwald. A top keeper should have held the shot
he parried into the path of the Ipswich player for their second goal. In
addition, too often his clearances go straight into touch and he does not seem
to command his box, often weakly punching high balls back into the danger area.

Nonetheless, it's another three points. Cardiff will provide an even sterner
test, however.

Cheers!

Sean
