At the Ipswich game I felt Wiedwald, Cooper and Philips were the weak links.
After last nights' debacle hopefully Coopers a bench warmer again and we can
select a stylish defence of Ayling, Jansson, Pennington and Beradi who must
have had an attack of the vapours as he found himself clean through on goal
last night. Wiedwald did resort to the occasional Plan B punt up field after
messing up too often against Ipswich but has continuously demonstrated that
when squeezed by opposition forwards he is not skilful enough for playing out
of defence. He panics far too easily and gives his defence the jitters. I blame
him for the second goal last night, Rob Green would have been further forward
off his line narrowing angles. Still don't understand why we got rid of him.
Lonergan is far calmer and presently would be my 1st choice. Playing Klich and
Philips in midfield was giving Cardiff control of the game, ffs Bamba was
poncing around in front of them and slapping them in the face with his bb
 c. Klich doesn't work hard enough for me. Just watch him strolling back for
their third goal instead of putting himself in the mix on the goal line. I
can't blame him for his slip that lead to the 1st though one of those
unfortunate accidents. We did look so much better when Viera came on and he was
far more aggressive in shutting down their midfield. Philips I'm afraid he's
overrated. He's scored some good goals and everyone is blinded by those
moments, his Ipswich goal a case in point. But on Saturday he was anonymous and
last night incapable of stepping into O'Kanes boots. I'd start with Viera and
O'Kane vs the Wendies. Get this sorted and the forwards will look after
themselves. Saiz, Alioski and Hernandez would have the beating of most they
come up against provided the defensive midfield was giving them a platform to
work from. Last night though, Roofe as a lone target man wtf then Grot wtf he's
no target man yet, needs a good season with the U23's or out on loan at
Scarboroug
h to refine his bullying techniques. So far he's been pinged for every forearm
smash he's delivered. For me, until I see an alternative, if Lasogga is fit he
starts.
I hope TC sees these shortcomings and removes the blinkers regarding Wiedwald
and Philips and doesn't keep blindly selecting them.
