Nice one ! I've had one too many pint to start on the vino today.
Thougnt we did ok today against a pedestrian Boro team. My main observations
were:
Roofe - did well for the scond goal but pretty ineffective throughout. I
thought Ekuban looked lively when he came on. I think he could be a player
Defence battled well but I felt that every Downing cortner and free kick was
going in the net. We just don't seem as solid and as organised. Cooper is
always likely to give away a pen or make a mistake, he was lucky today.
Hernandez has to play in home games , he was lively but frustratingly gave the
ball away time and time again in good positions. What a frustratingly good
player he is.
Allioski - got his goal and did put himself about but I think he lacks quality
Philips - for me that was his best game of the season and his best position.
Playing in front of the back four just putting in challenges and winning the
ball. He was excellent.
Vierra - some good but some really bad. He gave the ball away a few times and
lost possession in crucial areas. Just not at it today.
Not seen the pen yet but heard Ayling rugby tackled him after being fouled
himself. stupid if true ,
As for Boro - they played with no real ambition until they went 2 down and then
the players that got brought on really threatened us - especially the big lad
on their right wing - he was a handful and should have started. No doubt Garry
Monk opting for safe and consistent over attack.
Was watching Howson closely, did some good stuff but doesn't look the same
player he did as a lad at Leeds.
Given the bad run and lack of confidence this has to be our best result of the
season so far. Need to follow it up with points at Wolves.

Subject: [LU] Tonight's wine
I opened some St. Emilion in honour of Richard Walker when I found out we'd
won. After the first glass the rest went in the pot 'cause a neighbour
brought us round a big chunk of venison. So now I'm on the Cadillac
(keeping to the RW theme) as the apéro and them we'll move on to a 2008
Lalande de Pomerol which is gently bringing itself up to room temperature
in from of the fire.
Cheers!
