Can’t disagree with most of that.
I didn’t think Phillips was as bad as you did, but it is frustrating when he
keeps giving the ball away cheaply. At least he tries to make tackles, which is
more than O’Kane ever does!
I thought O’Connor had a good game and I particularly like his confidence in
bringing the ball out of defence.
Berardi is an idiot. I thought the red looked harsh, until I watched it back
when I got home. Third red of the season and likely a 5 match ban. Should he
play for Leeds again?
I thought Saiz had a poor game. Too many times he made the wrong decision in
the final third and is so one footed it’s unbelievable. He had a good chance on
his left but lost it by trying to turn back onto his right.
I thought Hernandez was superb. He is consistently our best player and if we’re
not trying everything to get him to sign a new contract there’s something
wrong. He frustrates at times with misplaced passes but that’s probably why
he’s at Leeds and not playing in the prem.
You can see why Dallas gets a game because he does look like he’s trying but he
can’t cross a ball to save his life. We got into some decent positions but he
constantly picked out the keeper’s gloves. I don’t know how you can be a winger
and not be able to cross a ball. I agree with Rich, time for him to move on.
I really don’t see the point playing Lasogga anymore. I don’t think we’ll be
signing him for next season so why play him? I’m not convinced by Ekuban but he
is likely to be here next season , so why not give him a run of games?
Interesting discussion on RL after the game about whether this is Heck’s fault.
Consensus seemed to be that the players are simply not good enough and out
early season results flattered us. I’m inclined to agree. You look at the teams
we beat at the start of the season and they’re all near the bottom and even
then I thought we were lucky against a few of them, especially Birmingham.
Ever since we were bullied away at Millwall I think we’ve been poor. We managed
some wins before Christmas against teams near the bottom but we’ve got very
little against the top teams.
If I was blaming anyone at the moment it’d be the owner, not TC or Heck or even
Orta. He’s the one who sanctioned Wood’s sale at the end of the window without
having a replacement lined up and didn’t bother signing a left back until
January. Fans are getting at Orta over the quality of the signings made but
he’s working under the restrictions that Radz has put in place - £15000 limit
on wages. You’re not going to get many quality players for that which is why
we’re taking a punt on unknown players from foreign leagues in the hope of
finding a gem. If that’s the level we’re forced to be at I’d rather see young
lads from the academy given a chance, which I’m pleased Heck has done.
We’ve a massive summer ahead with a lot of players needing moving on.
If it was up to me Roofe, O’Kane and Cooper would be the first out of the door!
Trouble is, who’d want them?
