I just saw somewhere that his philosophy is indeed to attack, and if they have
to defend the aim is to get the ball back as soon as possible so they can
attack again. This sounds exactly like Guardiola to me, the aim is to keep hold
of the ball and use it with purpose, if you lose possession then try and get it
back within 5 seconds. Also seems that MB wants creativity too, again something
Guardiola encourages in the right areas of the pitch. Of course it could all be
shit (like the Rosler claims that Dave pointed out) but feck me this is about
the most excited I've been pre-season in a good long time. Obviously we don't
have DeBruyne, Jesus, Sterling, Aguerro, etc. etc. but if we are going to play
with the same kind of philosophy that Man City currently have it's going to be
an exciting season. I am of the age now where I just want to enjoy my team, I'd
much rather watch football as it's supposed to be played rather than watch a
Mourinho side grind out wins that restrict players lik
e Pogba to bit part roles. I want to be f*cking entertained and it sounds like
we'll get that with Bielsa, though of course the "entertainment" might be goals
flying in at the wrong end!

I've watched enough kids football to see that lumping the ball forward
endlessly can be effective but it's bloody boring to watch.

What I really loved about the days of "O'Leary's Babies" (yeah I hate that
phrase too) was that before every game I knew I was going to see a team go out
and just bloody well go for it, and try to batter the opposition into
submission by attacking attacking attacking. Then Brian Kidd came in and
O'Leary tried to go all "Champions league" and play cautiously.

Subject: [LU] MB presser

Quite impressed and a bit different from the usual cliche ridden stuff
Loved the way he replied when he was asked about his football philosophy for
the second time - managed to be self effacing and cut down the journo at the
same time - " I thought I had already said it but must have done a bad
job........ hope I explained it better this time and sorry for the rest of you
who got it first time round"
Clearly he wants us to attack, attack attack - which (if it happens will be
well received by the fans -I do recall Uwe Rossler and his heavy metal football
which we saw in his first game v Burnley and never saw again!)
He wants us to be fluid, in their faces, keep the ball, attack with pace and
play it on the deck - sounds like a good idea
Implied that Vieira being sold was not his idea and may be a bad decision
especially with Forshaw injured for 6-8 weeks (and we know how that time scale
tends to get extended at ER)
As for Sunday he said BPF will be in goals, Pontus will not play (so expect
Berardi) and Forshaw injured. Did say that Bamford and Harrison will be able to
play .
So expect - BPF - Cooper, Phillips, Berardi- Ayling & Douglas- Klich (for
Forshaw) - Bamford up top. Then take your pick from Baker, Roberts , Harrison
as newbies vs any of Roofe, Alioski, Dallas, Saiz, Hernandez as part of the 3
behind the striker
Really cannot wait to get started (both me and MB)DavePS just had email re
Bremner stone and I am in Eddie Gray bit
