I think they are complaining because they feel these taxes affect them more drastically than the rich or the corporations. The interview I heard they acknowledged the importance to try and reduce carbon emissions but lamented the fact that large corporations or the aviation industry, both of which contribute significantly to carbon emissions, appear to not be taxed in the same way as people who can no longer afford to live, they are simply surviving. I confess to not really following this closely but I think Macron also just eliminated or reduced a tax on the super wealthy which has also angered the yellow jackets. As the working class get relatively poorer and poorer they are going to get hacked off and protest and are going to use every tool within their grasp to try and bring attention to their plight, including social media.
What are they supposed to do? I'm going to tie a Leeds scarf around my head and go out to a roundabout on the edge of town and stop all the traffic until the authorities give in and put Leeds into the PL.
