All the conventional opinion said Leeds would blow up towards the end of the
season. The only person who did not think so was Bielsa.

He was also the one who said, publicly at least, that we didn't need any January
signings. We could all see that the squad was short of a C Back, and
suspected that neither Roofe nor Bamford would be good enough in the final
reckoning.
Letting Saiz go was not a bad move, provided we signed the winger we wanted and
enabled Pablo to play more central. But why did they put all the eggs in
Daniel James' basket and leave it to the last day? We had a month to make the
signing. When it fell through, there should have been a back-up.

It was always going to be a big ask for Roberts to take the no 10 role during
the pressurised run in. The odd appearance from him in the last 20 mins would
have given Pablo a bit of rest.

Also letting Tom Pearce out on loan was a strange move. Douglas has been a bit
of a sick-note and a bit disappointing. His injury has left Alioski as the only
choice at left back, and meant Harrison has had to play every game.

The odd thing is that in championship terms, those 3 signings would give us a
pretty good squad for next season. I can't see too many of our players being
snapped up this summer, and there aren't many that are indispensable. However
it means that Bielsa has to be up for it for another season, and that he learns
a little bit from his previous experiences.

Like Leeds he has quite a record of falling at the last hurdle. :(

KOT.
