I've been pondering this "poor conversion rate" - is it simply that
teams playing us are now instructed to swamp the box with defenders as
soon as we get the ball - basically 9 or 10 men in the box and relying
on the law of averages (bodies in the way) to keep us out? The only
difference I can think of between the first games and the later games
of the season was that our midfield could get ahead of the forwards and
pick off their shots in the box...now, not so much. Are the opposition
resigned to not having much of the ball...packing defence and hitting
us on breakaways?

As for the game it was just like watching the first team - fast
flowing football -m which was great but, it was also, like watching
the first team in that despite totally dominating the game we ended
up needing extra time to scrape through 3 -2, we wasted so many
chances, some unlucky hitting both the post (twice) and the bar,
watching the keeper make a series of good saves, missing the target
on too many occasions, and taking the extra pass or touch and not
shooting when the opportunity arose.
