Surely it is a sign of Phillips' class at this level that he appears to stroll through games and always has 10 yds of space around him. The trick is, that when he doesn't, he keeps it simple and quick, then moves into position to make himself available again.
Obviously not at the same level, but isn't that what Pirlo did for years. Even though the opponents often regarded him as the guy who made the team tick, nobody would get near to him most of the time. Regarding selection for the Wigan game, I'd keep it exactly the same as the first 2 league games to start with. There is nothing wrong with the team's shape for an away game or the overall play. My main criticism on both games would be that Bielsa changed things around when we were in control and upset the rhythm both times. Having Eddie on the bench gives the option of replacing Bamford later on with a different type of Striker, or putting them together if he needs to. Similarly with Costa.
