I don't think Harrison's crossing is bad - I actually think it's pretty good most of the time, it's quick at least - the issue is there's no one on the end of them.
That's not his fault. That's the team shape and make-up. The crosses from the right are pretty non-existent in comparison. As you might expect, with a central midfielder playing wide right, or an international winger who plays right back for his club pushed wide right. Not sure what Costa's 'correct' position is. I didn't catch the Preston game and I gave up on the Brum-cast from someone's living room, so not talking specifics, just generalities. -----Original Message----- From: Simon McNally <[email protected]> Sent: 24 October 2019 16:04 To: Joe Skinner <[email protected]> Cc: leeds list ([email protected]) <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [LU] Preston I’d go along with that. I don’t think it’s that’s we’ve been found out, just that teams have developed a way of playing against us that they know will keep them in the game, particularly if we keep missing tons of chances. I also think our crossing has been worse this year, especially compared to the early part of last season. Someone was telling me that Harrison has the most chances created in the division but this must be due to the sheer volume of times he gets the ball out wide - his completion percentage must be awful. Part of it though, is the difference between Bamford and Roofe. I lost count at the weekend of the number of times a cross went in and Bamford was just behind it or just behind a defender. I don’t think his movement in the box is good enough. We still look confident in possession in deeper areas but lack something up front. I’d rather see Douglas have a run of games - I think it’s hard to judge him on the odd late cameo in games. If you think back to the West Brom game last season, Roberts was amazing at ten. Could he start a game there? I think we need someone in the final third who is going to run at defenders at pace and scare them. If Costa isn’t doing it, why not Clarke for a few games? Eddie has to start on Saturday though S Sent from my iPhone > On 24 Oct 2019, at 13:25, Joe Skinner <[email protected]> wrote: > > Last season we had a different forward (Roofe) who scored some scrappy and > late goals/winners > > Not to say he could only do that.
