Yes I played my report and moans out on Twitter and WhatsApp this week as well
as on text to a couple of mates who attended the match.
I thought we were poor and I'd put it up there alongside the Forest game as the
2 worst performances of the season. The difference being we won ! but that was
more down to Boro's inability to play anything that resembles football. Any
other team would have got at least 1 against us in that 2nd half.
So the fact that we won, means in some eyes you cannot criticise the
performance and even worse than that if you dare to suggest the Bielsa picked
the wrong team / tactics then you're an idiot.
Well, bollocks to that.
White was like a fish out of water in central, defensive midfield. Effectively
playing as an advanced centre half unable to contribute much to the match. He
looked heavy legged at times and he just isn't suited to this position. People
then argue who else could he play there ? We don't have any 'holding
midfielders' that are not injured, but how about at least playing a midfielder
there ? Not only did we look poor in midfield but it also unsettled our
defence. I think both Beradi and Cooper had decent games but we looked shaky
and all over the place at times. Play your best players in their best
positions. It's a completely ridiculous tactic to play White in midfield. Yes
we got away with it and people will say, look we won, Bielsa got it right but
anyone who watched that game knows he didn't and my big question is will he do
the same again at Hull and if so will we get away with it again ?
Having said that Bamford should have had a hat-trick and we could have buried
them if we'd taken our chances but that's becoming a bit of a boring statement
and it's just a matter of fact that we will squander most of the chances we
create.
other points were:
Hernandez - can his first touch and passes get any worse at times ? One pass
split Ayling and Costa and just went out to touch. So poor at times. He did
however have our two best shots and also played a great ball for Klich to
score.
Kiko - apparently he was brave to play. I wish he hadn't. Yes 3 clean sheets
but bloody hell he looks shaky.
I don't think I've been that despondent after win before. Still 5 points clear
of 3rd and playing the worst team in the league tomorrow - surely they can't be
worse than Boro ?
