Atleti are my 2nd La Liga team dating from a visit there a fair while back when you could leave the stadium at half time, have a beer in the bar beside the ground and then go back in without a ticket check. Love the town too, to the extent that listers Gaynor & Tobias are accompanying me to Bilbao in June for a random Euro 2020 game and a few days R&R in the Basque country. However, IMO Betis would be the best destination for MB if he left Leeds as they are my fave Spanish club due to a visit there in October 2007 for a game v Real Santander.They let me carry my 6 year old lad over the barrier so he didn't need to have a ticket - Lewis Hamilton lost the F1 title by a point in his debut season in the final race during the match. The Beticos were very fond of informing me that they were the first Andalusian team to play in the CL.2007 was Betis' centenary, reflected in the green beanie I still wear in winters to this day.Didn't wear it when I went to Sevilla's stadium on Easter weekend 2008 for a match v Atletico Madrid, but had it not been 20 degrees I would have done so the following morning for tapas in Triana, the district across the river from the centre of Seville which is definitely, (like most of working-class Seville) Betico and one of the reasons why MB would be as idolised there as he is here. The (Picasso famous) town of Gernika, heart of Euskadi (Basque country) was my home in the early 80s, and I became an hincha of Bilbao - a wonderful time when we won the league (think of how we last won it from under ManUs noses and multiply by 10) and then the double, with just their local lads versus the international millions and gazillions of Real and Barca, and if we think the FA is against us, multiply that by 10 (for example that season establishment-R Madrid got us penalised for watering the pitch before a game). And the World Cup with England in Bilbao was truly a wall to wall festival of love, drinking, song and brotherliness throughout the city from morning till night (only issue was brits used to closing times not able to cope with open all hours drinking). To watch MB take over my 2nd club and see them humiliate Fergies lot with such swagger and then have him come to Leeds and work such wonders....I think you can now understand my unswerving adoration!
