Perfectly content to be out of that stupid cup, but even so I was thrilled when we got that totally undeserved equaliser and gutted when we lost on pens.
Bigger picture, though.........bigger picture. Overall, obvs it was a very disappointing performance. I was quite excited to see the likes of Cresswell, Casey & Bogusj play, but in the end it was a case of 11 players trying their best to play Bielsaball but not really being able to hack it. My guess is that if you put any 2 or 3 of that lot into the 1st team there would not be much of a dropoff in quality, but altogether they just can't do it. YET...........mustn't forget that most of 'em are still pups. I must admit though that Tyler Roberts is really starting to get on my tits. He takes way too many touches, overcomplicates everything, and generally just tries to be too bloody clever. My feeling is that the coaches have told him to try to provide something different, and to try his little tricks in the front third.............and OK he's still only what 21? But I think he needs to do the simple things way more often.........then his wizardry (if it were to come off) would have more impact anyway. And then there was our record signing Spanish international CF. Well, to be fair to him, it must have been a bit of a comedown to be playing with a bunch of kids v 'ull when last week he was playing with Bousquets and Ramoz v Germany, and he didn't show any signs of BertieBigBollocksism. And he did do about 2 and a half top quality things. And he got absolutely no service as he was playing up front in a team who insist on building from the back yet rarely managed to get past the middle third. But all that said............he looked pretty ponderous most of the time. And what was with all those pathetic half-hearted rugby tackle fouls?
