I criticised Bielsa for leaving out Rodrigo and we'll never know if we might have had this match won by half time if Rodrigo had been playing but you have to admire how Bielsa has got this team playing. There were times yesterday when we were just on another level to Everton and some of our interplay was breathtakingly good. Every player knows their role and how they interact with others. To see a midfield of Phillips, Dallas and Klich completely run the show at times is in itself a small miracle when you consider that each of those players have struggled in the championship before Bielsa came along. From the first minute when were out of the blocks in a flash with Raphinha's direct run we looked like we could score with every attack. With better finishing and better final pass choices we would have won this game by 3 or 4. Everton showed glimpses that they are a dangerous attacking team but overall I thought we defended very well, especially Koch who had a tough time against Calvert-Lewin but stayed with him most of the time. Cooper made one bad mistake in the first half but overall stuck to his task well. The most pleasing thing for me was after we got the goal we didn't completely shit ourselves but instead came forward and should have had a couple more, particularly Costa's chance created by a great run from Poveda. I think this was a better performance than Villa because I think Everton were much more dangerous going forward. Happy days all round and you have to feel that we do have a chance against Chelsea. Scores: Miesler - 8. Some great saves and only one lapse from a dodgy pass Ayling - 8. He's a transformed player. Looks very dangerous going forward and he defended well especially when you consider he got an early yellow card. Allioski - 7. Lively performance. Not everything came off but he adds a nice balance to the left side and I think he's putting his name on that 'No 3' shirt. Cooper - 7. Took a clever yellow card late on as he was left for dead and I feel he's going to get a few of those this season but overall he's done ok. Koch - 8. Much better. Phillips - 8. By far his best performance for Leeds. He started slowly and I thought first 10 mins he was struggling but he found his feet and really controlled the midfield and even produced a couple of decent forward passes. The most pleasing thing for me was seeing him second half actually taking the ball forward into their box. We haven't seen that for a while. He did have a lot of space in midfield which suits him down to the ground. Everton players also had a lot of space at times to run through our midfield. It was a very open game. Klich - 7. Not his best game but he was here, there and everyway as always. Needs to get those shooting boots back on. Harrison - 6. Unlucky with a couple of chances but overall I thought he was our weakest player on the day. Yes he's done brilliantly in the step up but I'd be tempted to give Poveda a start. I think Poveda is more direct and can beat a man in a way Harrison can't. Bamford - 7. Solid, hard working performance and unlucky not to get his goal. Looks confident. Raphinha - 9. Very impressive. The goal was the icing on the cake but from the first minute he looked sharp. How much better is this lad going to get ? What a signing. I liked how he almost had a free role up front rather than being stuck on the wing. Can you imagine the love this lad would be getting from us lot if we were allowed to the games. Instant hero. Dallas - 8. Very impressive from Dallas. I didn't think he could play in midfield but he's just getting better every week and really is turning into a modern day Paul Madeley. Subs: Poveda - always impresses Costa - Should have scored. _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] Find us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/leedslist/ Dorigo's Right Buttock...
