Hi Happy New Year. Good to see some good postings and general agreement on the list. It seems that the only people who are not happy with the way Leeds are playing are not Leeds fans.
I think we all agree that this team could not play any other way, and that even though we will get the odd hammering from teams who have better players from 1-11, 3 years ago we could not have dreamt we would be where we are today. I too think it is unlikely that there will be any signings during January. There is an argument for getting a dominant Centre Back in (bought or loan) while Koch (the tallest defender) is out. Part of the reason Bamford is so entrenched is that he is needed for defensive duties at corners. But anyone coming in now is probably not going to be integrated before the return of Cooper and Llorente. Given that we are not in immediate danger of being brought into the relegation fight, I'm hoping we can get by for a week or 2 with Ayling and Struijk. Similarly is any left back bought in January going to be an improvement over Dallas and Alioski? I must admit I kind of hoped that Davis would have been more prominent. He ought to be challenging for a place by now. With the shortage of Centre Backs, his cameo appearances and cup matches seem to be in the middle, which is a bit unfair on a young full back who is probably only 5ft 8in. The one area that has not been addressed, is the painful shortage of anyone to play in the defensive MF position if Phillips in injured, suspended or put into a back 3. This is one area where somebody should have been brought in a year ago. Forshaw is unlikely to play this season, and after 2 years out, will he ever get fit or sharp enough to play at a higher level than he ever has done. Someone to come in there when required and allow Phillips to drop back if necessary would be my priority. KOT UK Shared Business Services Ltd. Registered in England and Wales as a limited company.
