I dont think I have laughed so much at a game, it was great fun. A crowd of around 500 which was split 50/50 between Salford and Leeds fans.I was stood right behind the goal and we had a real crack with their keeper, Connor Ripley who was loving it, all seems daft in the light of day but chants like " Ripley's got a towel" when he wiped his hands was hilarious on the night (bettered only by the "you're just a shit Max and Paddy" sang at 2 stewards). When Ripley was subbed before the end he got a good round of applause whereas his replacement just got abuse " we want our Ripley back" and after the goal " Ripley would have saved it" , just so funny at the time. As for the game an 8 goal thriller with some good attacking play let down by shocking defending, 2 goals from corners and the other 3 from crosses that we failed to deal with - terrible and cost us the game and our chance of progressing in the competition. Our goals on the other hand were quality with Gelhardt making the first two with real class. First goal our full back won the ball and gave it to Joffy who on the edge of the box played a nice ball to Max Dean who finished well. Second goal ,Joffy dummied the ball past a defender beat another one and played Greenwood in who smacked it home with his left foot. Joffy ( and Cresswell ) were brought off at half time and mcguirk and Bate came on.
