I’ve decided to come out of lurkdom after a while. Always a good idea to wait a day after the disappointment of a defeat.
I was fuming for much of yesterday about the offside goal (even Jermain Defoe was pretty surprised it had stood) and the shite that ITV commentators came out with during the game. But in the analysis when they stated waxing lyrical about the atmosphere created by the West ham fans I nearly blew my top. Apart from ‘Bubbles’ before the match the only time you heard them was when the 2 goals went in! For the rest of the game all the noise was coming from the Leeds contingent. Anyway, a day later I am happy to reflect on the fact that we did not really want another match, against Kidderminster or anyone else. If we get a change of luck in the league game, that will be worth the trade. It was valuable experience for Hjelde, Bate and Greenwood who all acquitted themselves well. Regarding the injuries, I’ve never been comfortable with blaming them for the current situation and even less convinced that an improvement on availability or performances is just round the corner. It was asking for trouble to go into a season with only 17 senior outfield players with injuries, suspensions and Covid absences to cope with. The small squad was ultimately a factor in the 2018/19 season, and we got away with in the last 2 seasons. Despite the number of absences, another left-back, a number 10, and a striker added to the squad would have made it strong enough to get through this. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how the deck is shuffled again next week. MOT KOT. Sent from Mail<https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=550986> for Windows UK Shared Business Services Ltd.
