Like many people, I really love what he did for 3.5 years at my club. And love
him as much as you can love someone you have never met. It was great to have
somebody who was quirky, a little bit mad, and completely dedicated. He gave
Leeds United their respect back and got the team back in the premier league
when I had begun to doubt I would ever see it.

Yes he was stubborn and perhaps if he had been a bit more pragmatic and willing
to sign a few players we would not have been in quite so much trouble now.
However I really believe that with some slightly easier fixtures coming up and
a couple of players coming back, he stood a better chance of getting the 13 or
14 points to stay up than anyone else.

As for the future, let’s hope the new guy has some immediate ideas as to how to
wrestle a few points from the next few matches. He will have to do it with the
same group of players who will have to make adjustments very quickly and not
dwell on the loss of the man who must be a mentor to many of them.

It is a big gamble and within 3 months will be considered a success or an
abject failure. There is no middle ground here.
