Kevin, RE: From: Kevin Lewis - UK SBS <[email protected]> RE: PS. I am retiring from work on Thursday, so after nearly 30 ys will be unsubbing from the list with this address.RE: Hopefully will be back from a new address as soon as I can work out how to do it, and John lets me go nomail so I catch up from RE: the web digest. This list is 29 years old in July, [email protected]. It grew out of rec.sport.soccer (rec.sport.soccer - Google Groups) in the summer of 1993, not 1992 as might have been implied at one stage or another in the past. I checked Google's archive of rec.sport.soccer and noted a message from Declan Mc Mahon from June 1992 but it got no real traction at the time. Gavin Burnage (with Mark Smith?) did move definitively in late-July 1993 with a proper list mechanism and we were off. All three are still with us, I believe. James. -- https://groups.google.com/g/rec.sport.soccer/c/Pbm9W_zYrPw/m/nzfMP1JgZIsJ Jun 15, 1992, 5:48:54 PM Does anybody know of the existence of a Leeds United Supportersmailing list and if so would pass on the me either over the Newsor via E-Mail the contact address.Regards,Declan Mc Mahon ++ https://groups.google.com/g/rec.sport.soccer/c/z5Xr_Cj1mIs/m/IgFjlJtpenwJ Jul 27, 1993, 9:57:07 AM The recently-founded Leeds United fanlist has now become a properlistserv list, so Whites fans everywhere are invited to subscribe tothe "new" list. (Most, but not all, of the members of the old mailalias list have been contacted with these details; apologies to anyoneout there who's been wondering what happened to their Leeds mail.)To subscribe to the list, send a message to [email protected] says this: SUBSCRIBE LEEDS-UNITED Gordon Strachan You put your own name in instead of Gordie's, of course -- thismeans that list members can see who you are if they want to whenthey "review" the list (more details on that when you subscribe). To send messages to the list, you write to [email protected] your mail is distributed to everyone currently subscribed. Once you've been added to the list, you get a message back tellingyou so. It also contains important information about how to [email protected] -- so it's best to hold on to it, maybeeven print it out, for future reference. If you have problems getting on the list, get in touch with me: I canput you on myself if need be. However it's best for everyone tosubscribe themselves if possible, because that way the listserv knowsexactly what your address is. That's important because it only allowspostings to the list if the address in your mail corresponds exactly toyour address on the list. I hope everything's clear; if not, get in touch with me (detailsbelow) and I'll try and sort things out.
