Thanks John. To try sum up Lido in a few words is impossible, it would take a long long night drinking beer round a campfire to get through half of them - Lido would have loved that.
I was fortunate enough to travel extensively with him, climbing mountains, ending up in ridiculous places because Lid thought somewhere ‘looks lively’ (he once insisted we left an excellent bar in Panama because he’d seen lots of people queuing to get into another lively looking place around the corner - it turned out to be a chemists), playing for the Lards (we did bike to Amsterdam for one of the competitions, Lid brought a couple of pages from his schoolboy atlas to help us navigate). He was great to travel with (unless he started talking about his beloved Leeds bus stops) and our trips were never less than unpredictable. Everyone who knew him will miss him. I felt enormously privileged to know him and I’m pleased I got to see him on Saturday afternoon, just to say thank you for everything.
