A mainly good performance got us a deserved point, whether it is 2 dropped or 1 gained I suppose time will tell, but this was a game we could and should have won. The team was as expected other than the fact that our new left back, Wober came in at centre half in place of the injured Cooper rather than instead of Struik who kept his place. It did work though as he looked assured throughout, very calm and commanding and looked like a leader. With wober arranging everything we kept them to no actual shots on targets and only a few worrying moments, opening the first half did look dangerous but came to nothing. If this is a sign of things to come then welcome Max, keep up the good work First half was very cagey with little goalmouth action , but we did up the tempo second half and both Rodrigo and Gnonto forced the keeper into decent saves. The crowd compiled with the request re Gnonto song , and changed the lyrics to " he eats pepperoni, drinks Morani and us better than Toney" - won't really work v teams who dont have Toney playing. Toney himself got stick with " toney , toney what's the odds " plus when he got booked some dirty about him having a bet on a yellow card. It was however one of those days when things did not quite work, passes were just a yard too hard ( twice through balls to Willy went to the keeper) or players took a touch too many etc. It was a decent performance however with Adams controlling things and Gnonto and Rodrigo looking lively. Aaronson had a better game, still a bit lightweight but looking more like the player he was at the start of the season. Marsch did try to win it bringing on both Bamford and Sinsterra but neither could find that killer punch. Most wanted Rutter to get at least ten minutes, hoping that the euphoria and adrenaline of signing would overcome any lack of match fitness but it never happened So a good clean sheet as the defense was well marshalled by Wober and looked more solid than in any other game, and although we did not score, it was not due to any defensive mindset , and if we can keep clean sheets we do have the firepower to score and therefore win games. Roll on another good cup win and then 2 winnable away games with svum homeland away in between- hopefully these will give us enough points to pull away from the relegation zone. Marsch lives to fight another day - not much else to say after a 0 0 draw Dave _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected]
