No idea if the 49ers will steer Leeds back to back to the PL, but the idea that they would make footballing decisions based on nationality strikes me as pretty myopic. Since they have been given to the whole shop they have handed the recruitment over to an Englishman and an Icelander, the head coach is now a German. All seemingly sensible decisions, and not a word of them shackling Leeds to anyone on the basis of an American passport.
Orta takes the blame because he clearly had lined up Marsch as Bielsa’s successor, let Marsch pick the players he wanted, and clung to the experiment until it landed us in the EFL, where all of those same players jumped ship. Radz takes the blame because he clearly let Orta carry on too long. The 49ers should take some blame too, but all will be forgiven if they have learned from past mistakes.
