Yes i nearly posted about Ayling but did not want to spoil the euphoria
Ayling has been an absolute hero for us, arguably pound for pound our best ever
buy ( £200,000 or something equally crazy) an unbelievable bargain He has
always played with a smile in his face, was pivotal in the Bielsa team, scoring
a few memorable goals and stepping up after the Forest defeat to get us back on
track. So for those reasons i will always love ' Bill'- he seems a good lad off
the pitch and has overcome his speech impediment so there is lots to admire
When i saw the team sheet i expressed surprise that Shack was chosen over him,
but having seen his display when he came on i totally understand the decision.
Without exaggeration he was awful, 3 or 4 times the winger , anonymous before
then suddenly looked lightening fast as Ayling looked like he was running in
treacle . The few times he got the ball , his passing was off giving it away
most times, and his shot trying to recreate the famous volley v Hudds was
terrible.
A real shame but on that showing he is finished - time catches up with them all.
The other 2 Bielsa stalwarts fared litle better, Cooper turned a rock solid
defence into a shaky one , struik alongside him and on his wrong side suddenly
looked much less assured and impressive. Plus they had a good shout for a
penalty against coops - not sure why he is ahead of Cresswell now
Bamford , who got a few boos but was mainly serenaded, was also poor. He made
one great tackle but never looked like scoring and his one shot was met with
hoots of derision by the away fans still in the ground.
It is a pity that 3 such important players ( albeit Paddy and Coops had their
critics and poor moments) end up looking like shadows of their former selves,
but the time has come to say " thanks very much, you will go down in leeds
united history , but goodbye and thanks for the fish"*
* memories ( a little Douglas Adams for you there)

Agreed Dave. That first half was as good as anything since Bielsa’s good days…
although, Huddersfield were hapless. A special mention for the number 16 who is
still rocking in a cupboard somewhere in the away changing room after trying to
contain Summerville for 45 minutes.
I’ve got no problem with taking the foot off the gas and essentially ‘resting’
everyone, with Leicester coming up on Friday.
One thing to mention was how much off the pace the old guard looked when they
came on Bamford, Cooper and especially Ayling.
I would hate to try and mark Rutter.
