To be fair to Klaasen he did actually save the chance in the 2nd half -
it hit him on the chest - the ref just didnt notice it and gave a
goal-kick.
Bamford definitely helped stretch the defence - and thus gave more room
to the wingers and Rutter - but not clear if it will work as well
against a better team when Rutter might actually have to do some
defending from No.10. Firpo basically wandered up the left wing at will
and made little attempt to get back and defend - not sure you'd get away
with that against a team not managed by Wayne Rooney.

As ever, agree with much of Dave’s report.
I’d just like to take a moment to recall Rutter’s pass to Firpo for the
3rd goal…
Also, Firpo had his most successful game for us - 2 assists and one
header off the woodwork. Still not much of a defender mind.
Cooper was left standing a few times in the first half, before they gave
up trying.
Anyone know if there is any truth in the Struijk-away rumours? Wouldn’t
like to have to rely on Cooper.
Pleased for Bamford. Hope that gives him the confidence to kick on.
We still need to find a way to play Gray in midfield - Kamara is solid,
and great at closing people down, but at least 50% of his passing is to
bounce the ball straight back to the guy who passed it to him, usually
over less than 10 yards.
Has Rooney been sacked yet?

Last thing my wife said to me as my lift to and from ER arrived was "
tell me you wont sing ' you fat bastard ' at Rooney " I didn't but as
the game kicked off i did sing " fat scum bastard " at him , then
later " youre getting sacked in the morning " and " Going down with
Wayne Rooney " all if which were well deserved Birmingham were
appalling - absolutely clueless and 3 0 flattered them. They had only
one shot on target v our 3rd choice keeper making his first ever
start. They did scare us on 2 occasions, first a ball over Cooper left
their winger all alone but his touch was so poor it allowed the , once
again brilliant, Rodon to get across and take the ball off him. Then
second half one of them was clean through but hus shot was high and wide
- abysmal
So thats them, a poor team with a crap manager.
So where are we? Well it was normal service has been resumed ( at home
at least)I realised on my way to ER that this was my 50th anniversary-
my first visit was in 1974 and its now 2024. Thankfully the players put
on a decent show for me, nonr more so than the much maligned Firpo ( we
feared the worse when he came on to join Cooper and Klaesson) who got 2
assists and also hit the bar with a header from a corner. Our goals were
all well made , the first a ball out to DJ on the wing, he hit an early
cross and Bamford ( who also hit the post with a rasping drive)
celebrated his return to the starting line up by rising highest and
heading home - the sort of goal we hsvd not been scoring this season.
The crowd roared his nameThe second was more typical, Rutter and
Summerville harried the defenders and won the ball and fed Firpo who
picked out DJ to fire hime through the keeper ( a goal and an assist for
the lad with ' no end product'The third was also a typical leeds under
Farke goal - Rutter chipped a lovely ball to the onrushing Firpo in the
left wing position, he again looked up and picked out his man, this
time Summerville who took one touch to steady himself and put it in the
bottom corner A pretty comprehensive victory
The big question is why we can beat the low block / packed defence at
home but cant do it away from home where it should be easier since teams
also have to attack on their own patch and that should give us chances
on the break
Sort out this conundrum and we can still make the automatic spot, fail
to do so and it will be a very nervous play off
Dave
