That’s hardly the story though is it Nick? But to humour you, if he’d played like his last match then yes, but he didn’t - for most of the game he turned up, scored 2 vital goals, still gave some cheap ball away, but not as much as others, and if we hadn’t adopted the 11 men behind the ball tactic he may have scored more? Or not? Who knows?
The story is we got 3 points, are now 2nd in the table, and have given ourselves a chance of going up automatically. There are any number of words to describe a game like that - hugely entertaining, defensively awful, defensively strong, clinical in front of goal, some really sh*te lost balls (2 of which cost us goals), wasteful going forward, tactically perverse, frustrating as hell - in short, the story of our season. That we held out, and scored an offside winner, was amazing. Often, it seems, we never get breaks like that? I’d have liked to see Bamford’s ‘offside’ goal again though - maybe we were robbed of that one? Lots of chatter about tonights game - seems simple to me - Leicester need to lose - Southampton may come to the last game on a roll, but that is for another day - if we beat QPR and Leicester lose then some remarkable variants are possible?
