Well after the debacle that was Middlesbrough and the loss of our 2 best players, things look like they are back on track with the easy win at Wednesday being followed by this comfortable win v hull.Apart from a 15 to 20min spell in the middle of the first half where 2 good saves by Meslier kept us in it , we were dominant and looked in control. We started well with some actual crisp forward passing and moving, none of the sideways and backwards keeping the ball for keeping its sake. Solomon looked a real player and if he stays fit can be a real difference. Gnonto fresh from signing his new contract was a real handful, ostensibly playing on the right wing but cutting inside and playing in the number 10 role alongside aaronson who was also lively. With joseph looking big and strong up top we played some good stuff, their keeper making a few saves and their defenders putting in some proper blocks as we huffed and puffed a bit. They were strong and well organised and despite our dominance there were times when this had 0 0 all over it. Then 2 bits of skill won the game and showed the difference in class.First Solomon got the ball out wide just inside their half, took it forward beating two men and putting in a low cross to the near post, Joseph did what good strikers do beating the defender and the keeper and flicking home, his first ( of many) goal of the season. The second was even better, Solomon had gone off ( to rapturous applause) to be replaced by Piroe (Ramazani also came on). The lad in front of me groaned and started slagging Piroe off and bemoaning the fact he was still here. 5 mins later a different story - joseph was strong in defence and played a ball forward to Firpo who hit it across the box first time to an unmarked Piroe who took advantage of the time and space and slotted home , a great finish , which showed what he is all about, not sure how he fits into the team but a great asset nonetheless. We then saw the game out with a few "ole's" ringing round the ground . Hull fans very quiet throughout were totally silent by then. A good comfortable victory and a good performance. Ramazani showed a few tricks and Tanaka looked comfortable on the ball, things are looking ok again. Another 8 corners went by without us scoring ( 122 now ? - they said 112 in the Wednesday game and we had a couple after they showed that stat) So off into the international break on a bit of a high, 4th in the league for what its worth with a massive match up next DavePS RIP Sol Bamba, he was good for us, spoke out against the nonsense at the club and always had a smile on his face _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected]
