It took their fans 12 seconds to start with the Jimmy Saville nonsense, but to be honest it was pretty much all they had to sing about apart from the funny " he's had enough" chant at Firpo when he went off injured. (a chant they got fired back at them a few times) and on 80 minutes " we've had a shot" That last one summed up Derby and the game as a whole. They offered nothing and let us dominate from start to finish. It is weird when a team comes to ER seemingly with one plan , to waste time and get a 0 0, and then stick to that plan when they are 2 down - madness As I say Derby offered nothing and we camped in their half, but as so often been the case we struggled to break them down and had all the ball in their half but to little effect. Their one attacking idea ( having turned us around so we were kicking towards the Kop first half, ) was to hoof it high and long and hope that the wind, in their favour, would help in some way. The crowd was starting to get a bit edgy and frustrated as the half hour mark passed. Wober had come on for Firpo to a few boos, and we found it hard to create real opportunities. Our best was from a corner but Rodon , free and clear, headed wide . Aaronsson then had a nice turn and shot saved as we tried to turn the screw a bit. Then with half time approaching, and a first half stalemate looking likely another good Rothwell corner was met by Rodon who powered home his header for his first Leeds goal Soon after it was game over as a contest ( if it ever was ) when great play between James and Aaronsson led to a dangerous cross in, the ball fell to Wober in the middle of the six yard box ( not sure why our defence minded left back was there?) and he fired home for his first Leeds goal too. The crowd forgave him and his team mates seemed genuinely pleased for him. We expected Derby to come out and try second half but it was mainly more of the same . We failed to take real advantage as their keeper saved from Aaronsson, James, Tanaka and then only just from Piroe. They had one cross pounced on by Meslier and on the 80th minute a long range shot straight down his throat as we got yet another clean sheet at home. A few subs came on to no real effect- Ramazani amazed with one great bit of skill- and a comfortable victory just waited for the final whistle This was easy - hope Boro is the same on Tuesday Rothwell probably my MoM but most played well Back to the top of the table at least overnight Dave _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected]
