Doubt it. Great to meet another List face! Off to get my brown shirt for the trip home. Nick

Norwich had good periods of possession and Sam Byram got an early yellow, which tempted wingers to run at him, but in truth they didn’t lay a glove on us. Their most dangerous-looking attack, taking advantage of mistake by Ampadu, was snuffed out by a speeding Rodon - I had no idea he was that quick! When it’s 0-0, Farkeball can be frustrating; it’s very easy to shout “we have better players, why aren’t we having a go?” from the stands when you’re not the one who gets sacked if it goes wrong. With a goal lead, though, it’s just sometimes a bit tedious, but there didn’t seem to be the annoyance in the air that we’ve heard recently. Maybe Farke is mindful of the duration of the season, and isn’t looking to burn anyone out? Maybe he knows that we could go gung-ho this season and (probably) win the league, but that won’t work next season so it’s better to indoctrinate the habits that will keep us in the Premier League now, while we have worse opposition to practice against. Fear of second yellows saw Tanaka and Sam taken off for Gruev, who was fine, and Firpo, who showed how much more dangerous left-footed players are on the left wing; every attack was suddenly quicker, because he didn’t have to cut back onto his “good” foot. In one of our spells of attacking pressure, on the hour, one of their players tried to keep the ball alive rather than concede a corner, and it dropped at the feet of Solomon, who whipped it across for James to slot home. After that, we took off the goalscorers and replaced them with little Wilfred Gnonto and Largie Ramazami, to keep the Norwich defence on their toes, but the game was over. My first trip to ER in years, and it was great to be back, and to catch up with Wiggy and Nicholas before the game. A goal in each half, a clean sheet, top of the league… maybe we’ll cheer up when we’re promoted? Ed.
