Fair point, Roger, but that was in an era when a win only got you two points.
The whole point of switching to three points for a win was to incentivize a
more attacking mindset.
Cheers!

I'm not convinced by Farke by a long chalk, but let's not forget that
our greatest ever manager built the foundations of our fantastic team
on 0-0 (we have a point) or 1-0 to the Leeds whenever possible. Finest
example - 0-0 at Anfield 1969. Never tried to win the game, but we won
our first league title that night. Enough said.
And no, I still don't like Farke ððð

For about 45 seconds yesterday Bielsa-ball was alive and well at ER:

Quick throw out from Meslier to Rodon (?) to Aaronson on the right
to Bogle, back heel into Aaronsonâs path, first time down the line
to James, first time low cross met by an in-rushing Solomon - goal

Thereafter the game was played out between two Farke teams - Norwich
played like they had found an old coaching manual lying around -
with Leeds having a little more intent / urgency about them.

Having swapped the booked Byram and Tanaka (the latter might have
dodged a second yellow a few minutes prior) for Gruev and Firpo⦠we
got another injection of pace from Junior down the left, whoâs
charge forward brought on a series of attacks, which ended up with
James calmly finishing from a nice chipped ball to the far post from
Solomon (after one of their defenders had kept the ball alive when
it looked to be going out).

Other than that, almost anonymous and uneventful as a game of
    football.

    Back on top.

Just checking upcoming games, to see loads of them have been
buggered about in terms of dates / timesâ¦ah well.

Two goals,  a clean sheet, 3 points and back top of the league, what
a wonderful night, except it wasn't really it was all a bit
    underwhelming again.
I'm not sure what's wrong but fans, including myself, who should be
buzzing are all a bit 'meh'
After a good win there is usually singing on the way out and even
outside the ground and a general hum of excitement,  but it was
lacking again last night. People almost trudged to the bus stop
muttering ,almost as if we had lost.
I don't know what more the team or Farke can do , two comfortable
victories in 4 days with the opposition conjuring up the grand total
of one shot on target ( Norwich had none last night). There is just
something lacking -ok it's not Bielsaball , what else is?- but we
have scored lots more goals than anyone else (53 now I think ) we
play some lovely stuff on occasion and we are solid at the back.
It's not even that promotion is a foregone conclusion - it clearly
isn't with 4 teams fighting for 2 spots, but for some reason the
crowd just aren't buying into it
As for the game , we had the dream start, too many games have had us
huffing and puffing to break the opposition down, this time it was
instant ( thankfully I got to my place just as the whistle went )
They passed back to the keeper, he hoofed it right up and it ended
in the hands of Meslier- he threw it out and then the much maligned
Aaronsson played a lovely one two with Bogle and ran down the wing
before playing a lovely ball to James who took a touch and played an
early cross onto the 6yd box where any good striker should be, on
this occasion it was Solomon,  and the striker duty obliged
Not much happened after that,  the ref got card happy for a bit,
right until the last minute when a brilliant cross ball from Tanaka
was volleyed superbly goalwards by Bogle but the keeper saved.
Second half was much the same,  they did nothing, Piroe had a shot
blocked ( to join one in the first half) Bogle had another long
range shot blocked  and Tanaka was a bit lucky to escape a second
yellow but was subbed just in case.
Then on the hour game over, Firpo crossed the ball was fired into
the box and looped up highland wide, instead of letting it go out
the defender headed it back into play straight to Solomon whose
cross was met well by James who hit home.
More subs were made and Ramazani nearly repeated his heroics from
Sunday with a thunderblaster from the edge of the box but the keeper
    saved.
The whistle went, we cheered - the end
Roll on Monday and a  ( difficult) chance to put daylight between us
    and 3rd place

At the final whistle, the Elland Road DJ played Kaiser Chiefs, but
anyone predicting a riot last night needs to give their crystal
balls a polish; effectively, the match was over within a minute:
when Leeds score first, we donât lose.

Norwich had good periods of possession and Sam Byram got an early
yellow, which tempted wingers to run at him, but in truth they
didnât lay a glove on us. Their most dangerous-looking attack,
taking advantage of mistake by Ampadu, was snuffed out by a speeding
Rodon - I had no idea he was that quick!

When itâs 0-0, Farkeball can be frustrating; itâs very easy to shout
âwe have better players, why arenât we having a go?â from the stands
when youâre not the one who gets sacked if it goes wrong. With a
goal lead, though, itâs just sometimes a bit tedious, but there
didnât seem to be the annoyance in the air that weâve heard
    recently.

Maybe Farke is mindful of the duration of the season, and isnât
looking to burn anyone out? Maybe he knows that we could go gung-ho
this season and (probably) win the league, but that wonât work next
season so itâs better to indoctrinate the habits that will keep us
in the Premier League now, while we have worse opposition to
    practice against.

Fear of second yellows saw Tanaka and Sam taken off for Gruev, who
was fine, and Firpo, who showed how much more dangerous left-footed
players are on the left wing; every attack was suddenly quicker,
because he didnât have to cut back onto his âgoodâ foot.

In one of our spells of attacking pressure, on the hour, one of
their players tried to keep the ball alive rather than concede a
corner, and it dropped at the feet of Solomon, who whipped it across
for James to slot home. After that, we took off the goalscorers and
replaced them with little Wilfred Gnonto and Largie Ramazami, to
keep the Norwich defence on their toes, but the game was over.

My first trip to ER in years, and it was great to be back, and to
catch up with Wiggy and Nicholas before the game. A goal in each
half, a clean sheet, top of the league⦠maybe weâll cheer up when
    weâre promoted?

    Ed.

I think the problem was the classic case of "scoring too early."
    After 35
secs everybody in the stadium (including those on the pitch and in
    the
dugouts) already knew the outcome. It was a cold night in
midweek...............there was an air of "Can't we all just go home
    now?"
