Hi
I am in Leeds at long last.
Got to ER and got the blasted bug that buggererd up my holiday [ vestibulitis]. Still feel shit.
But I was very encouraged about the soccer.
I can compare LUFC over a year, since my last visit. The difference is chalk and cheese.
We were obviously a team playing ourselves out of a crisis. But we did just that. There was method and endeavour. There wasa also a lot of class. With Kelly , Bakke, Killgallen, Healy, Hulse & Derry playing very well. I thought Crainey was OK [ I expected a basket case] . In fact I only thought that Douglas was crap.
Mostly I am impressed by the guts and single mindedness of Blakewell. If he could keep Bakke out because he was not satisfied [program notes ?] then he is either a plucky sod or a stupid one. And he is not stupid.
This is one example of KB sticking to his guns.
Let's face it. He is the most qualified amongst us all to make the calls. His goals have been both reasonable & met. He is consistent.
Looking back I was amongst the first with the KB out call. I think that I was completely wrong.
I hope that we will look back and say that the mini slump was a blessing. We could not have caught the blades anyway. But we we got the loosing streak & the goal shyness out of our system.
In other words we are in very good shape. We are the best set of individuals in the play offs. We have a manager who is managing. We are on course & if luck is evenly shared out we will go up.
If not, we are on course. The manager has got it right & we have every reason to trust him. Even if we do not go up we have no cause for despondency.
The reason is simple. The manager has earned my faith & trust. He said promotion next year. I believe him. Anything else is a bonus. So why not start enjoying the fact that LUFC is alive and well.
Regards.
Michael
