We have got rid of dead wood - Ricketts, Wright,
Players who were not getting a game and most of us thought were not up to the job - Walton, Pugh, Bennett, Griffiths, Harding
Players who we would have liked to keep but got a good price for - Hulse
Then there is Livermore - about whom the general opinion was fairly negative.
Incoming - a young quick winger - Carole
A midfield general who his last team were sad to see go and who is (injury permitting) coming to his prime - Nicholls
A young midfield playmaker - again rated by his last team - Westlake
Financially we have collected a lot more than we have paid out and will have saved a lot in wages.
In addition we have kept (or appear to be keeping) Bakke who we mostly agree will be top class at this level , plus Stone is fit , a player who we missed all last season
There is still time to sign any from Fox, Cisse, the German centre half, that French left back and a keeper (possibly Ward )
Seems overall to be good business to me - of course if any of the 3 buys turn out to be shit then this opinion may change -
I am not 100% pro Blackwell but feel he has done enough over the last 2 seasons, where he has met all realistic expectations, to deserve our whole hearted support at the moment and give him a fair crack of the whip !!
It seems a lot of the anti Blackwell want it both ways - one minute most of our players are not good enough and then in the next breath "we should walk the League with the players we have"
Time will tell which camp is correct, but whatever ROLL ON SATURDAY !!!!!!
Dave
