Whoever compared Moore to Lord Carl of Shutt is guilty of gross sacrilege. Yes Moore ran around a lot yesterday and managed a couple of decent flick ons, but he generally looked like a lower level player trying to use boundless enthusiasm to substitute for ability, which is not true of Lord Shutt, who had massive commitment levels but also underrated ability. The number of times Moore's first touch was so poor his second touch was a sliding tackle to try and get the ball back was amazing. And he NEVER looks vaguely like a goal threat.
We clearly set out yesterday to play high tempo throughout - they were sprinting to get the ball back for every throw in. This resulted in us having a large amount of territory and possession. Concerningly though we never had a single goal threat in the first half (and limited in the second). This came down to a poor final ball (Westlake guilty on a number of occasions, but I am feeling charitable towards him, he did a lot well, covered a lot of ground, and has the air of a poor man's Bowyer to him) and due to the lack of any strikers in good striking positions to take on a final ball. Whenever Moore tried to get on the shoulder of the last defender he drifted offside. Win is a win, and we certainly needed it but it was one of those matches that reaffirmed the concerns of the doubters and the hope of the believers. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Tim Leslie Sent: 28 August 2006 12:36 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [LU] View from the rattan chair A bit harsh Rob! We were easily the better team and did show some signs of decent footy. My biggest gripe was, we're 1-0 up, they are down to 10 and Sturrock (How fat is he BTW) has just gone 3-4-2. IMHO it's at this point where KB made changes that I think are making him unpopular. We had Beckford on the bench who, despite numerous weaknesses, has blinding pace. Moore had worked very hard but, I'm afraid, was hardly a threat on their goal (Lets face it, that is KEY to a forwards job!) Carole was giving them plenty to think of down the right (I thought their young left back looked quite good actually) So to me the change was obvious, swap Moore for Beckford and get the ball down the channels for Carole and Beckford, with 3 at the back this surely would have lead to more goal opportunities. Instead he takes off Carole, pulls Healy out of position and gives the impetus to 10 man Wednesday, resulting in a few worrying moments and potentially the loss of 2 or even 3 points that we should have comfortably have got. P.s. Has Blake shagged KB's wife or something? ******* This message and any attachment are confidential and may be privileged or otherwise protected from disclosure.
