Oh Chris, I've answered this question a million times on this list. You make it sound that Blackwell has his hands tied and his current predicament is really unfortunate. Ok, what would I do :- 1. I wouldn't rely on a captain that has been over the hill for trhe last 2 seasons. I just wouldn't have let myself get into that position. 2. I wouldn't rely on 'experienced' has beens to form the backbone of my squad over the last two years. I just wouldn't have let it happen. 3. I wouldn't play my best players out of position and play a system that isolates my centre forwards. I just wouldn't let that happen. 4. I wouldn't fill the team with players that have no pace. I just wouldn't let it happen. 5. I wouldn't sign ex-loanee players on permanent deals knowing they have no pace and ability. I just wouldn't let it happen. 6. I wouldn't sell all my left backs leaving only one at the club who happens to be the one who can't defend. I just wouldn't let it happen. 7. I wouldn't criticise my young players following embarassing defeats when it's clear to all that it's not the young players that are the problem. I just wouldn't let it happen. 8. I wouldn't keep my best, young defender out of the team for half a season in place of a fat knacker. I just wouldn't let it happen. 9. I wouldn't drop a player out of the first 16 one week then ask him to start the next week. I'd know my best 11 by now. 10. I'd go back to my coaching manuals and see if I could come up with some different tactics other than a big punt upfield from Kelly or Crainey. So, in summary that's what I wouldn't have done Chris - I wouldn't have got into this situation. Now, I know you're a clever lad and you're going to dismantle this argument by telling me that I haven't answered your question. You asked given poor Kevin's predicament today what would I do. The answer to that one Chris is RESIGN !!! and if I was Ken Bates , I'd sack him then resign myself. Don't be fooled into feeling sorry for Blackie. There's only one person to blame for where we are today and that's Blackwell. Anyone would think he was an unlucky manager when the reality is he is the luckiest manager I have ever seen. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Richard Walker" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "Chris Wright" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Cc: <[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, September 04, 2006 7:45 PM > Subject: Re: [LU] Douglas is back !! > > > > > > --- Chris Wright <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > wrote: > > > >> Oh dear - another year older and Rich still > hasn't > >> learned to read the mail > >> before he types the riposte. > >> > >> Only a fool or an imbicile would summarise a > season > >> this early > > > > Correct.
