Carver said: "I am not listening to any distractions on the outside with
regards who is being linked with the job. All I am doing is staying totally
focused on the job."
"I am a strong character and have my own beliefs. If I believe in something,
then I just get on with it and whatever is happening outside does not
concern me. I do not want to even talk about it."
"The chairman has given me a job and a responsibility to look after the
team. That is all I am concerned about."
Asked if Monaco-based Bates had been in touch since the heartening win over
Birmingham, Carver added:
"The chairman had to dash away to catch a flight straight after the game, so
it was difficult to get together then."

Where did Kentucky Fried Chicken have to dash away on a plane to? Was it
back to his home in Monaco? Or was it to Italy for talks with Ranieri?
I have a very funny and suspicious feeling that it is the latter, and
whether we win our game later today against West Brom or not, I think there
is a strong possibility that Ranieri will be announced as Leeds new manager
next week sometime!
Think about it for a second. Ranieri has said that he wouldn't mind coming
to be manager of Leeds, a championship side.
He is a top manager and he has a lot of contacts.
With a Ranieri in charge he could attract bigger players to the club and
help Bates do a lot of wheeling and dealing.
Whereas with Carver, while he might have potential to be a good manager, and
while he is a good people person and a good motivator, he isn't likely to be
able to attract the same players that a Ranieri might be able to attract, he
won't have as many contacts.
With Carver I'm not saying that we wouldn't climb up the table and have a
chance of getting promoted. But the thing is, it could take a lot longer
with Carver. With Ranieri, a high profile manager like that our clubs status
is raised significantly if he becomes the manager.
Maybe I am completely on the wrong track on this one and I am reading too
much into it, won't be the first time, but it wouldn't come as a surprise to
me if that's what happened next week.
What Harry Redknapp did for Portsmouth in getting them promoted to the top
flight by bringing in experienced players like Sheringham etc, the same
thing could potentially happen for us with Ranieri. The only difference
being that with Ranieri it may more likely be foreign experience that is
brought in not domestic.
