yes indeed, i am still around in case anyone was wondering
(okay, who said 'eh, i hadn't noticed'). haven't even been away,
just quiet as it where thanks t a combination of various factors.
in particular the unbearable business of one-handedness, still
that is as i await a message to go under the knife. add to that
a pile of it/techie problems thanks to power surges destroying
fibre optic cables, routers and hardware externally and internal
for a lot of folks. add to that every time i'd caught up reading
the latest surge of mails on the list, taken a breath and about
to post a catch up mail there was something causing another
tsumai of mails and it was back to square one ...

so no catch up. if things need to be said it can be done in
dribs and drabs. some already has been done like 'dammed
united' which i caught pre-publication but has now been well
mentioned. but going back equally far, right back to the
cannes film festival, nothing have i seen on something equally
significantso finally here an post/apres cannes report ...

the penalty king
from conception to realization there's been some six and a
half years. the sotry of lee, blind from glaucoma which has
cost him not just hos job but palying for his local pub team
and watching (who else) leeds.

thanks to mad yank and a visitation from his hero, kong billy,
all is not lost and ... well no need for me to tell you go and
see the film. written and directed by chris cook it was being
touted round cannes by producer charlie bowden where she
was looking for backers and distributors.
it's had one or previews but is now getting it's offical world
permier at the leeds film festival.

features claire grogan (she of gregory's girl), nick bartlett,
peter lorimer, the fox and hounds, chapel allerton, etc
