See Waccoe for the thread if you must - LU are closing TA Grange in as far as it will no longer be an accommodation facility. It is still being used for young players digs at present though it is also correct that part of the building is offices for non club businesses. The kids who used to be accommodated at TA Grange will now be going into more traditional "digs" and hence the adverts by the club. The building which had the fire is the new block (not the Grange) and that has not been occupied since the fire. I think it was meeting/teaching rooms as opposed to living accommodation but others will know better. Because the new block and the Grange are bang next to the First Team pitch which is off to the side of the main training facilities, it is likely to trigger suspicions because, of course, the first team pitch is not included in the buyback clause. This means that the pitch plus the new block and the grange fit together very nicely as a development site. Whatever the outcome of these changes they appear NOT to have been triggered as an expense-cutting scheme or some devious plan to release development land, even though this is ultimately what is almost certain to happen. It appears that Alan, who was basically running a hotel for younger players ALMOST SINGLE HANDED (and doing a hell of a good job by all accounts -except for some of the soup, LOL), has resigned in order to concentrate on his other life as a football Physio. It also is understood that the last time somebody applied for planning to build houses roughly in this location it was rejected by the Parish council. Perhaps they didn't wish to lower the tone set by the prison over the road by shoving ugly executive homes in there so close to that attractive electric fence. Those with a sense of irony might feel that the club has lost one hotel but might gain two. I wonder what Wilko might make of it. The story I heard was that a tear was seen in the corner of his eye when he was told of the original sale of TA.
