Have you looked to see if the folder where ITunes thinks the music is stored actuall has it? Typically this is My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music. In ITunes look under Edit/Preferences/Advanced.
If the files are on your disk then you will be able to get them back into ITunes. Before you do anything else back them up. If not then you will have a tougher job.
