I am, of course, a very groovy f***er, but have to agree with Richard - each to their own. I loathed Zep at the time (and now), as much for the two girlie fops (Thommo and Neil) who liked them at Knaresborough Grammar as for their tunes (sic!) Anyway, for those groovy experimentalists out there (probably just Richard, Chris N and Nick A) try: Mexican Institute of Sound - Pinata (mellow hip-hoppery underpinned by some nice Latin flavas) Estrella Morente - Mujeres - melancholy Spanish wailing (also try her Dads flamenco guitar stuff - Enrique Morente) Burning Spear - Marcus Garvey/Garveys Ghost - classic reggae from 75 Lee Hazelwood - These boots are made for walkin - the complete MGM recordings - cool crooning. Fat Boy Slim - Late Night Tales - some great old stuff on there! Alfredo - The original Sound of Ibiza - ditto Also check out You Tube and watch the Cramps live in the nuthouse - old skool psychobilly. fantastic stuff! You Tube is ace - search and it will be there! Reverend Groove Peace Love and United
Doh! don't start that again Are you bored today ;-) IMHO there is not Good or Bad music as objectively there is no method of measuring its "good" or "bad" ness. There is only music you like and music you don't like. If nothing you have heard from anyone born since the WWII rings your bell, that's your problem not Music's. I shall download the track you suggest and see what I think. I grew up with Led Zeppelin, Floyd, Bob Marley, Talking Heads etc, but there is plenty of recent music I like as well, Kaisers, Gorillaz, Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada, Amy Winehouse, The Streets to name a few. ttfn Richard _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
