I too was a member of ANL, RAR, sticking NF=No Fun stickers everywhere and spent time being chased by skinheads, but how much differnece that made I am not sure, it galvanised some youth, but in the general political climate made very little difference. IMHO they destroyed themselves as fascists often do by infighting because they have no specific political creed and therefore no common basis to build a political consensus. > > Fact: the NF fell apart for two main reasons: > - large numbers of right-minded citizens united to drive them > off the streets on the principle that there should be no > platform for racism > - Thatcher's immigration policies, which were a "light" > version of their platform robbed them of many floating supporters Well Pete, you may choose to say that is FACT, but I call that opinion. I think you are giving ANL and RAR toooo much credit, we weren't like the Communists against the Black Shirts in the 30's you know! You point about Thatcher has more credence, but still not totally persuasive. > BTW, I can't believe there are people who can't distinguish > between the BNP and the SWP. I hope u aren't accusing me of that, if u are please read my original post again. ttfn R _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
