Come on Dave - I know you're a glass half full kind of guy but it was shocking.
Yes there was spates of nice tippy tappy midfield play, but we're not looking at
Iniesta, Xavi etc here. There were also gaping holes through the middle of our
defence (step forward Collins and Bromby) time and time again - a fella next to
me used the phrase "hot knife through butter". Bessone was dreadful -
defensively - frequently only 3 or 4 yards from "his" CHalf Collins while the
Bury winger skipped merrily down the line. However, he did look to have nice
touch on the ball.

The midfield was leaden - Snodgrass utterly uninterested - Johnson utterly
incapable (except for heading)- why is one of our tactics still to launch the
ball out to the left for Johnson to nod on? Kilkenny invisible for the second
half - after a decent first. Howson some nice touches and tackles and some
bloody awful ones.

Up front - Becchio and Grella - no movement, no control, not a header won -
hopeless. Oh how we missed some pace and movement. When we had the ball in
midfield, there was nowhere for them to go.

Eventually Gradel, White and Somma came on and injected some pace and passion.
In truth we know more or less what we'll get with the first 2 of these, Somma,
looked interesting enough to persevere with although whether he's a long term
answer - time will tell.

I don't know whether Paynter's got any pace, but assuming we'll start with him
vs Derby then I'd suggest we'd need Gradel or perhaps Somma alongside
him...whilst being resigned to the knowledge that we will start with Becchio.

Oh...and their pies are rank. Tidy little ground though.

Bury? - chuffing weird place.

3 weeks to go and the pre-season hope buried?
