Students at Monash University are refusing to bow before the vice-chancellor's threats. The majority of the Save Arts 42 have refused to accept a "plea bargain" that would see them escape being expelled for eight weeks in return for a grovelling and unjustified apology (and $300 fine each) for occupying their Administration building against cuts. Students are determined to clear their name and make it clear to the university that cuts to Arts will not be tolerated. The campaign had a successful rally last week, with 100 turning up at short notice to march through the city. The next rally is: Thursday, November 26, 1pm, outside the Monash offices at 30 Collins St, City (near Spring St). Please put it in your diary and attend with banners and placards. The campaign has a web page: www.angelfire.com/mo/savearts/ Messages of support are very welcome (donations too).
