TELLING TALES 5
This week we finish our oral history series on the Stick Together Show with
Part II of the story of VIC WILLIAMS. Vic worked at the Union Carbide
petrochemical plant in Altona in Melbourne's western suburbs during the late
1970s & 1980s. During that time, workers at the plant engaged in an historic
sit-in over the issue of a 35-hour working week. In today's show, Vic talks
of the conclusion to that struggle & of the strike at B.F. Goodrich.
In this interview, Vic was speaking to 3CR's JAY ESTORHNINO & recorded as
part of the Telling Tales Oral History series in 1994. Thanx to Jay for the
use of much of the material the Stick Together Show has featured over the
last few weeks, as part of our 1998 Oral History Series. Other contributers
were Lynda Memory & Lyn Beaton.
