TO PUBLIC OPINION
TO THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PRESS
TO NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CIVIL SOCIETY
TO ALL THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES OF MEXICO
At this moment we are urgently directing this to public opinion in order to
strenuously denounce that paramilitary groups and public security forces,
as of this moment (8 at night) are entering in order to attack, once more,
the community of Union Progreso in the same municipality of San Juan de la
Libertad; the exact number of paramilitaries and public security forces
cannot be determined, because the darkness of the night does not allow them
to be seen.
At this moment, the men, women, children and old ones have had to leave
their homes out of fear of being massacred by the paramilitaries and the
public security forces; because of that, at this late hour of the night,
and in the rain, hundreds of children, women, men and old ones are fleeing
to the mountain. For this reason, we call for the intervention of the Fray
Bartolome de las Casas Human Rights Center, and on the other national and
international Human Rights organizations, and for the presence of the
media, in order that they may witness what the State and Federal
governments are doing to the indigenous peoples.
