East Gippsland Ecology Camp
Easter weekend
You are invited to experience the magic and wonder of the last of East
Gippsland's unprotected forests on a four day ecology camp.
Expert botanists, ecologists and local conservationist's will lead guided
walks through old growth warm and cool temperate rainforests as well as
extensive areas of wet sclerophyll - home of the splendid Gippland Waratah.
There will also be tours of the Errinundra Plateau and the unique Goolengook
forest: where both warm and cool temperate rainforest overlap and habitat
for many threatened species such as the Long Footed Potoroo.
Other activities include threatened species surveys, night-time spotlight
treks, slide shows under the stars, talks and camp fire discussions.
The Concerned Residents Of East Gippsland (CROEG) have been running camps in
the area for over 14 years and are the only environment group campaigning
solely for the protection of Victoria's last and largest area of pristine
forest.
COST $30 per person for four days, with concession and family rates available.
CROEG will provide expert and local knowledge, an information tent, a large
tarp for shelter, water and fire wood. Bring your own food, camping gear
and transport including a full tank of petrol.
WHERE: Goongerah campground (65 km north of Orbost on the Bonang Road) and
runs over the Easter Weekend from Friday 2nd to Monday 5th April .
