invitation from Justice Action: Jeff Shaw, Attorney-General ALP;
John Hannaford, Shadow Attorney-General; Lee Rhiannon, Legislative

One Nation; Arthur Chesterfield-Evans, Legislative Council candidate

C       drug law reform
C       prisoners' right to vote
C alternatives to increasing police and prisons, e.g. restorative justice,
Young Offenders Act.

"Increasingly we have seen how law and order issues are occupying public
debate and having an impact on people's voting patterns. Are political
parties using public fear to win votes? Do their get tough policies
make our community safer? Are these policies displacing health and
education?" Kilty O'Gorman, spokesperson for Justice Action said.

"The afternoon will provide a high profile opportunity to raise
community concerns about the direction of the law and order debate
prior to the election and let the politicians know what the public
expect of them. These are very serious issues which are too often
treated in a crude, hysterical and vindictive manner." said Kilty
O'Gorman, spokesperson for Justice Action.
